Freshman Retreat

Some of the specific details regarding the retreat are:
  • The retreat will be held on campus and all students are expected to attend the entire retreat. Please see page 72 of the Handbook for more information.
  • The retreat is from Saturday, September 9th through Sunday, September 10th
  • Cost of the retreat is $10, which can be turned in on Saturday at check-in. We also ask that each student bring a salty or sweet snack to share, which can also be turned in at check-in.
  • Check-in is at 8:30am on Saturday and the retreat ends with a closing Mass on Sunday at 11am.
  • You and your families are encouraged to attend this closing Mass, but if for some reason you are unable to attend, Mass should end around 12:30pm.
  • Students will spend the night in classrooms, so will need to bring sleeping bags and pillows.
  • If your child has daily medication or special dietary needs, please let us know so that we know to expect that and can plan accordingly. Medication is to be turned in at check-in.
  • We will be handing out permission slips and going over the packing list and other important info tomorrow in class. Permission slips will be due on Wednesday, September 6th.
  • We are in need of parent volunteers to stay the night and help us chaperone. Your role would be to ensure that the students behave in a safe and respectful way during their time in the classroom at night. We would ask that you please arrive at 10pm on Saturday and stay until around 9am on Sunday. You will receive 10 parent hours. You will need to have an up to date CMSE (blue) card and a current background check in order to volunteer. If you are interested, please email me your full name and your date of birth and we can check your CMSE status.
If you have any questions regarding the retreat please feel free to email me. I would ask that you please pray for the Freshman and the retreat in general. It is a beautiful time to encounter God’s love and we are very excited for it! Thank you very much.
God bless,
Mr. John McFarland
